In
the beginning my orientation towards abstractism
and bidimensionality invited me to isolate the subject
from the urban environment and lead me to push it
to a mostly geometrical background. By following
this style and by choosing a candid result I used
an old Nikon zoom 80-200mm f/4.5 at 90-120mm.
The
lens was big and not very bright so I started
with a compact 'n' scrappy 43-86mm
f/3.5 and the great 105mm f/2.8. By
that way my style was already evolving in
the direction of a closer relation with my
subject.
After
years I found to be brave enough to shoot with a
24mm from a very close distance of 40 cm.
I feel the sensation to "enter" into the
scene: i brake the life space distance with my subject
even if now my images are less candid.
This evolution demonstrates that there is not the
"right" street photography lens. Street
photographers have to find the lens that satisfies
their vision and go with it.
